CISA: Report on the Monitoring of Steel Social Inventory in Apr 21-30, 2026
  1. Overall Inventory Situation

In late April, the social inventory of five major types of steel in 21 cities was 10.22 million tons, a decrease of 380,000 tons compared with the previous month, representing a decline of 3.6%. It increased by 3.01 million tons compared with the beginning of the year, rising by 41.7%. It increased by 1,370,000 tons compared with the same period of the previous year, rising by 15.5%.

In late April, by region, the social inventory of steel in the seven major areas decreased to varying degrees compared to the previous month, except for Central China, which saw a significant increase. Among them, North China experienced the largest reduction in both volume and percentage.

      2. Inventory Overview by Product Type

In late April, except for the slight increase in the social inventory of medium-thick plate, the other five types of steel had decreased. Among them, rebar was the largest type of reduction, and wire rod was the largest type of decline. Compared with the same period last year, the five types of steel inventory increased to varying degrees. Among them, rebar was the largest type of increment, and medium-thick plate was the largest type of increase.
